Prof. Fiona Sammut is an associate professor within the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Malta and has over 20 years of experience in teaching statistics to students at different levels. She obtained her first degree, a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and Statistics and Operations Research from the University of Malta, followed by an MSc in Statistics from the same University. Prof. Sammut also holds a PhD in Statistics from the University of Warwick.

Prof. Sammut has a keen interest in statistical modelling including structural equation modelling, generalized linear models, generalized estimating equations, Bayesian modelling and classification problems. Over the years, she has collaborated with researchers from various fields, including the government sector, medical sector, market research and from the area of behavioural sciences. At present Prof. Sammut is involved in research related to health sciences and climate modelling.

Prof. Sammut headed for several years the Department of Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Malta and now occupies the post of Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Science.
